FEMFEM is an acronym for the European
Organization of Transport Manufacturers (Fédération Européenne de la Manutention).
The main function of the FEM:
- forge and document technical & safety standards as recommendations to the members of
the organization
- capture and distribute statistical information relevant to all member manufacturers
The organization is subdivided into technical sections in which section IV handles
material handling transport equipment and develops:
- FEM Safety Regulations
- Suggestions in performing stability testing (how to & results)
- form a basis to coordinate standardization of the fork carriage dimensions
The FEM has branches in many European countries, the (Nationalkommitees) is located in
Frankfurt Germany: "Deutsches Nationalkomitee der FEM" (im Verband
Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. (VDMA)) Frankfurt
